Pipeline Best Practices
Volume Matters:
Expect these rough conversion rates:
- 100 investors contacted
- 30 first meetings
- 10 deep dives
- 3 term sheets
- 1-2 closed checks
Follow-up Cadence:
- After meeting: Same day thank you
- +2 days: Send any requested materials
- +1 week: Check in on timeline
- +2 weeks: Final follow-up before moving on
Tracking Warm Intros:
For each target investor, document:
- Who can make the intro
- Intro request status
- Follow-up needed
Using Meeting Notes Effectively
Record after every call:
- What they said - Key points, concerns
- Questions asked - What do they want to know more about?
- Their process - Decision timeline, other partners involved
- Next steps - What you agreed to do
Pipeline Analytics
Track your fundraising health:
- Top of funnel: Are you adding enough new investors?
- Conversion rates: Where are investors dropping off?
- Velocity: How long from intro to decision?
Integration with Data Room
When investors move to Due Diligence:
- Grant them Data Room access
- Track document views
- See what questions arise
